Getting down to business with passive fire protection
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order: 2005, which is also known as the RRO or FSO, covers all non-domestic buildings, of which fire doors are a significant feature. The ‘Responsible Person’, whether it be the building owner, employer or operator, has a legal responsibility to ensure users of the building are safe. The ‘Responsible Person’ must be able to demonstrate that in the event of a fire, the premises can be evacuated as quickly and as safely as possible.
The importance of fire safety should not be underestimated, there have been instances where business owners and ‘Responsible Persons’ have been prosecuted as a result of injuries and fatalities associated with poor fire door maintenance.
The team at Kellaway Commercial is skilled in carrying out comprehensive fire safety surveys, identifying risks and producing a report of advisories for improving and maintaining passive fire protection.
